Sarvin Asa

Sarvin Asa is an Italian/Iranian cellist based in Copenhagen.

Born as multi-instrumentalist (cello-violin-pianist), she chose cello as her main voice and pursued her studies in Italy, Norway, and Denmark, in academies such as Scuola di Musica
di Fiesole and Royal Academy of Music-Aarhus.

In addition to her formal classical education, she has honed her skills as an improviser and
composer since 2019, attending european institutions such as The Norwegian Academy of
Music in Oslo, the Stauffer Academy, Chigiana Academy, and Siena Jazz Academy’s “Research Laboratories on Composition and Improvisation Praxis” under the guidance of
Stefano Battaglia.

Actively engaged in the European classical and new music scene, Sarvin is involved in
various projects as classical musician, contemporary performer, improviser, and composer.
In the last years she has shared stages with renowned musicians such as Theo Blackman,
Walter Prati, Stefano Battaglia, Harris Lambrakis, Kaja Draksler.

Sarvin is a regular member of new music ensembles such as Ensemble Tabula Rasa (for Chigiana Academy) and she performed with orchestras as Aarhus Sinfonietta, Aarhus Symfoniorkester, Young European Orchestra, Teheran Symphony, Orchestra Juvenil de Caracas, among others.

She has been selected and promoted by the national program “Young Italian talents in the
World”, performing for the Institute of Italian Culture in Berlin and Tel Aviv (2022-2023), and presented projects in festivals such as New Music for Strings, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Vinterjazz (CPH), Micat in Vertice, Chigiana International Summer Festival. Pedagogically, she has been cello and orchestra teacher for Aarhus Musikskole (2021-2023).
